Yeah, yeah — we already did a combined preview for the last three episodes of Season 20. Still, tonight’s the season finale, and that in and of itself bears repeating. We turn to SNPP once again for a description of “Coming to Homerica,” complete with friendly reminders that this episode is likely to retread old ground:
When Ogdenville’s residents abandon the town after an economic collapse triggered by tainted Krusty-brand veggieburgers, Homer forms his own vigilante group no, wait, that’s “Homer the Vigilante”
his own security agency no, that’s “Poppa’s Got a Brand New Badge”
his own border patrol to keep the Ogdenvillians out of Springfield
Will ratings be even lower than last Sunday’s new all-time low? Will Homer be an unamusing jackass? We’ll find out soon enough.

Can I just say, love the website and I once too was a diehard of the show we know as “The Simpsons”, whereas 99% of the “Zombie Simpsons” episodes leave me fuming. I feel like I have to make some pointers re this Homerica episode, based on what I read of the synopsis, despite having not seen (and having on intention of seeing) the episode.
* Homer forms a patrol group. The idea as we know was successfully done in ‘Homer the Vigilante’, there were similarities in the episode ‘Papa’s Got a Brand New Badge’ which wasn’t as good, but not a terrible one either. Why on earth would they try this concept a third time? Especially given that Homer is now such a buffoon that we wouldn’t be able to organise a piss-up in a brewery.
*The picture above. If I had to guess who Homer’s cronies would be, I’d have said Lenny and Carl. How predictable, given that they were two of his sidekicks in the previously mentioned two episodes!
* Ogdenville…Ogdenville? We know and love that word because of the reference to it in ‘Marge vs. the Monorail.’ What makes them think that introducing the town is going to achieve anything? Don’t fuck with the past (am I allowed to say fuck here? *insert witty Kent Brockman reference from Kamp Krusty*), these are my special memories of the show, and you’ve come close to ruining it. Use some made-up town from a season 16 episode, therefore I won’t know or care how you depict it.
* Selma finds love with a Norwegian resident of Ogdenville? Good God… Yes, I’m sure any bedroom scene with these two is going to rank up there with when Sideshow Bob was muttering death messages under his breath. Hopefully Bob does appear and comes good with his “soon I will kill you” threat.
* Homer lost his job at the plant? Nooooooo way! Say it aint so! How many times is that now? Thirty? One hundred? Three hundred?
* Maggie said her first word?…WHAT?…I’m not even gonna say anymore.
* The episode ended with a party. Reading that synopsis, it felt like there was a party in my mouth and everyone shat flaming turdballs all over my gums.
For someone who hasn’t seen the episode, that’s a pretty good list of criticisms. I’m hoping to drink it out of my memory soon.
