Sweet baby Jesus, Zombie Simpsons are at it again this week with another spiritual rehash of an old episode. Tonight, Lisa takes an interest in curmudgeonly old Burns, only to realize that he’s incapable of being changed. Sounds familiar, right? It’s basically the plot of Season 8’s “The Old Man and the Lisa,” and I harbor doubts that “The Fool Monty” can outshine its predecessor. If you’re still curious, here’s the actual rundown from Simpsons Channel:
After learning that he is suffering from multiple illnesses and has only a few weeks to live, Mr. Burns becomes distraught by the town’s less-than-sensitive reaction to his announcement. Following an unexpected turn of events, Bart finds Mr. Burns weak and vulnerable in the wilderness and secretly takes him into the Simpsons’ home. But when Homer and Marge learn about their new houseguest, they decide it’s payback time, and Lisa, determined to stand up for Mr. Burns, learns that old habits die hard.
The Season 22 suckfest continues unabated. Stay tuned for our usual ratings report and Crazy Noises later this week.
Mr. Burns has been suffering from “multiple illnesses” since ever. Also, I really dislike this thing they do where they pretend something major will happen. Everyone and their cat knows Mr. Burns isn’t going to die, so why do they bother coming out with this stuff when we can see the plot coming from centuries back?
It’s not a rehash of the “Old man and the C Student,” it’s a reboot! :p
Old man and the C student?
Oops, I meant the Old man and the Lisa.
IMO the first episodes of the new production season of the newer seasons always seem to be outstanding (e.g.the haw-hawked couple (JABF02), Eternal Moonshine of The Simpson Mind (KABF02) and O brother where bart thou (MABF01)) but I have doubts for this episode :/
Gotta say, I like the return of the blood splatter. It made me laugh, which is probably more than the episode will do.
Homer’s face expression in this one highlights how much the show wants to be like Family Guy. Never before have I seen Homer go what-the-fuck on someone or something like this.
Ketchup… Catsup…
Is there a term for new episodes that make Zombie Simpsons episodes look watchable? Because this episode is in the bottom 5 aired to date.
Burns being distraught by how no one likes him sounds like a rehash of that shitty episode with the Loch Ness Monster…”Monty Can’t Buy Me Love” was it?
Watched this last night… I’ve upheld a surprising amount of tolerance for season 22 to date. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been bad and unfunny, but it doesn’t quite make me want to jump off a bridge. The same can’t be said for this one… I gasped at some of the stuff that I guessed was supposed to be funny… Burns eats the stuffing from a teddy bear and then vomits the stuffing? Just what the hell was that?
