Until recently, I forgot the subplot was so sub-par. There are a few good moments, but it was ultimately just another zany thing for Homer to do, along with having him get hurt some more.
Sort of a shallow imitation of that bit from “Itchy and Scratchy and Marge” where Homer has a one-sided conversation with a TV announcer who asks the same “how much would you pay” question.
“A million dollars!”
“Oh, don’t answer yet!”
“Oh, sorry.”
