Dead Homer Society 
Sherri & Terri were a good example of girl bullies, but they were fairly underused in this capacity in the series classic, which is kind of a shame. Bart had his one big triumph over Nelson before they sort of started tolerating each other (“Nelson recognizes Bart’s right to exist.”) as the show went on, but I doubt he’d be able to score a victory over these two quite as easily.
That could’ve been some fresh material Zombie Simpsons could play around with, right? Instead, I’ve heard they’ve done idiotic things like make them triplets. They can’t even stop themselves from ruining minor characters.
To be honest I have problems with the idea of turning Nelson into some kind of sad kid with no friends and a terrible life as the show went on in its pseudo-Zombie era. Many studies have said the opposite is true: bullies tend to live much happier lives whereas bullied kids have much more psychological-related health issues as adults. Bart being a pathetic kid with only one friend (and the friend who otherwise would also be alone with no friends) made sense, Nelson’s problems… not so much. Bart never became Nelson’s equal until the Zombie era, yeah, despite he defeated him in Season 01, but Nelson was a much lesser menace later by making him to date Lisa, for example, and making fun of him as a result. Even before that episode, he already didn’t have the same aura of raw masculine power as he once had, thus depriving the show of some of its painful, (un)funny realism. I’m not entirely sure how making Sherry and Terry more prominent would have worked, to be honest.

I question that simply because I don’t think you can pigeonhole bullies either way. While a bullied child may indeed suffer psychological issues as a result, it begs the question as to why bullies act the way they do in the first place, and I think the answers are as varied as the reasons for the victims being selected for bullying. It’s not a stretch to say someone with a terrible home life and personal problems would lash out at others to make themselves feel better.
But back on the topic of the Simpsons and Nelson himself, I’m kind of on the fence about it. While I think it’s true that Nelson stopped being the threatening menace to Bart that he was originally depicted as, even in the later years of the classic era, he never totally became best buddies with Bart, they just occasionally happened to work together and tolerate each other for a common purpose, such as getting the lemon tree back. Then they started hanging out more and more as kinda-sorta-friends and that was when the show started getting closer to the Zombie years.
As for Sherri & Terri, you’re right that they wouldn’t really work as more prominent recurring characters, I meant something as more of a one-off episode or B plot. But since ZS doesn’t care about the integrity of the characters, I was also saying something like that probably would have been more interesting than the stupid never-before-seen triplet thing, but I honestly don’t know much about their use or lack thereof other than what I occasionally read on the wiki or from here, since I don’t actually watch ZS anymore, even out of morbid curiosity.
