I remember feeling so genuinely bad for the Simpsons at the end of this episode where even the pets are taken away. Even Ned turns on them. I was waiting in anticipation for the next new episode, which was “All Singing, All Dancing” to see if the Simpsons would get all their stuff back or not and sure enough they did. I wonder if everyone in town had a change of heart. Maybe they got the insurance money for the car and paid everyone back so they returned their stuff. Or maybe the writers didn’t think it out at all and it would have been too much of a hassle for the background artists to redesign all the Simpson’s belongings so everything is back to the way it was with no explanation. In the DVD commentary for this episode, I don’t remember who it was theorized that this was the last episode of the show but it aired out of order.

Yes. I was sharing my thoughts on this episode. I don’t follow where you’re going.

While Mike Russo’s post was rudw, I must say I don’t see your point. The Simpsons almost never showed any kind of continuity (unlike Futurama where the protagonists met new characters all the time), so I find a little strange for someone familiar with the show to expect the writers would address what happened after this episode.

I didn’t expect them to address it, and before “All Singing, All Dancing” aired I was 99% certain that the Simpsons would have all their things back, just like how in “Lisa the Beauty Queen” the Simpsons had all their stuff replaced with identical stuff after the house was on fire in “Homer the Heretic”. Though in “This Little Wiggy” Ralph has some of the stuffed animals that Chief Wiggum stole from the Simpsons in “Miracle on Evergreen Terrace”. I don’t really have a specific point, I’m just saying that the show was so three-dimensional to me I always noticed things like that.
