I’m surprised it was only half.
This is a great episode in and of itself. It’s both very funny and highly entertaining but it was a turning point as to where the show kind of lost footing in a believable setting. There are more surreal and silly moments in this one episode than there were in all other canonical episodes up to this point. There’s Lenin’s body becoming reanimated, the Village people dancing and singing on the submarine, penguins piloting a ship, the captain being fired out of the torpedo chute, the ship going over a waterfall, etc. I’m not complaining that the writers sacrificed realism with comedy in this one episode but as the show went on with a more “anything goes” vibe and as it was running out of steam creatively you wind up with something like jockey elves.
