I love how not long after they are trying to set Marge up with that Andre guy 😂
Perfect reaction from them. They can’t even pretend to care about Homer, even when he’s gravely ill. And the cheek slap is just the cherry on top.
Patty and Selma have always been two of my favorite characters. The rivalry between Marge’s sisters and her husband is one of my favorite elements in the show. As a viewer I don’t see anyone as being right or wrong in their hatreds of one-another. It just is what it is. Homer is a great guy. I can’t think of anyone that would be more fun to hang out with than him. But he is a fat lazy slob and Marge could have done a lot better than him. Patty and Selma hate Homer because they love Marge. And obviously Homer hates them as they treat him so badly. On one hand I’m thinking they should give the poor guy a break but on the other hand I see thier point completely. I think I should proably be taken aback in the idea that these two women care more about five cents off wax paper than the knowledge that a decent man might die soon but I’m not. They’re awful people but I find their awfulness undestandable.
I agree, lots of great banter between the three of them. Although I’d add that while they do seem to love Marge deep down (maybe Selma a little more than Patty) they also seem to kind of look down on her too. From picking on her as kids to being sort of disrespectful and condescending to her as an adult, it just seems like their default nature is to treat people with disdain, even those they actually care about.
